The time has come for AJ Styles, as Dominik Mysterio can’t run from his challenger anymore; these two will face each other for the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam.
At Night of Champions, “Dirty Dom” and The Phenomenal One were supposed to face each other, but an injury stopped Mysterio from competing. The Judgment Day troublemaker would continue to show off a very convenient note from the doctor forbidding him from competition or any contact for Mysterio. Styles would haunt the champion at every turn, until the injury status was lifted, and the match made official.
Mysterio hasn’t competed since June, and his last successful title defense came against Octagon Jr. at WWE Money in the Bank, in a match that showcased luchador pedigree. In 2025, Styles has wins over JD McDonagh, Finn Bálor, and Dominik Mysterio, so if anyone has The Judgment Day’s number it’s The Phenomenal One.

The WrestleMania face-off we have all been waiting for is on tap for SummerSlam! Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena will defend the championship against Cody Rhodes in a huge Street Fight.
At The Showcase of the Immortals, Cena controversially won the championship from Rhodes, and with several title defenses afterwards, has retained, taking out Randy Orton at WWE Backlash and CM Punk at WWE Night of Champions, promising to ruin professional wrestling by finishing the farewell tour, with the championship in hand.
Not if Rhodes has anything to say about it!! The American Nightmare most recently won the 2025 King of the Ring Tournament at WWE Night of Champions, defeating Orton in the finals and has set his sights on Cena to win the Undisputed WWE Title back, and save professional wrestling.
Additionallly, even though Cena is trying to reneg, Rhodes was able to get the Greatest of All Time to sign the contract for the match, and revealed that the match will a Street Fight.

At SummerSlam, Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY both will challenge the new Women’s World Champion Naomi in a Triple Threat Match.
In the main event of the historic WWE Evolution PLE, Naomi interrupted an amazing contest between SKY and Ripley mid-match in the process of cashing in her Money in Bank contract to ultimately defeat both The Eradicator, and The Genius of the Sky in an unplanned Triple Threat Match to win the Women’s World Title.
Back on Raw, both Ripley and SKY appeared to spoil Naomi’s celebration. With both Superstars stating that the new championship title holder was holding each of their respective titles, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce decided that the three Superstars will settle their dispute in a complete free for all at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

Becky Lynch, the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, is preparing to defend her title against Lyra Valkyria in a rematch at SummerSlam.
Valkyria did create history, as the very first Superstar to hold the new Women’s Intercontinental Title. However, it was when she and Bayley were given the opportunity to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania that everything changed for the women of “Monday Night Raw”.
Bayley was taken out of the match mysteriously, and it was later revealed to be at the hands of Lynch and not the blurry figure who “ran” her off.
While Lynch returned to WrestleMania to partner with Valkyria and earn Bayley and the latter lost a chance to be co-champions on that night, they lost the gold the next night and Lynch showed her true colors after being sent to the back while keeping the gold they earned.
Lynch went on to steal and pin Valkyria by a handful of tights at WWE Money in the Bank 2025 to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. After wrestling a Triple Threat with Baey and then Valkyria at WWE Evolution 2025, Lynch managed to successfully defend her championship.
To add on to the admonition, after beating Bayley in a No. 1 Contender’s Match on “Raw”, Valkyria had earned her Rematch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title.
Just a month later on the July 21 episode of Raw, Lynch and Valkyria had upped the ante, agreeing to face one another in a unification match!

At SummerSlam, United States Champion Solo Sikoa will be defending his title against Jacob Fatu in a Steel Cage Match.
The hostility between Sikoa and Fatu has grown heavier each and every week, and Fatu was just arrested after Sikoa and The MFTs staged a car accident to implicate The Samoan Werewolf as the guilty party.
Since Sikoa was so insistent on getting Fatu in a cage, it was decided Sikoa will take on Fatu in a Steel Cage Match at The Biggest Event of the Summer.
